Sansui-ga. Sansui-ga (paintings with water and mountains) are an old type of
sumi-e wich honors nature and uses its elements in an attempt to recreate the
universe. In ancient times, people believed in nature’s power and that gods
lived in rivers, mountains and forests. For this reason it was important that
those elements were represented as close to reality as possible. That is why
Sansui-ga are more detailed than other sumi-e, specially if you compare to
those seen nowadays
